Frequently Asked Question
Small businesses need to be vigilant of increasingly sophisticated scams targeting their finances.
Potentially most common type of attack is phishing email, asking users to update their details, phone a fraudulent number or make a payment.
Types of scams
> The use of Fake invoices or purchase confirmations for something you haven't bought
> Overpaying an order and asking you to refund the difference
> Prize winnings or advance fees - paying a fee for something upfront
The scam emails may ask unsuspecting users to call a number - they'll then speak to the fraudster or a form of deepfake impersonation instead of Nochex or service. This puts users at risk of passing over sensitive and confidential information, which may give scammers access to their funds and usually have a "sense of urgency" to action.
How to avoid a scam
1. Use two-factor authentication - this gives you an extra layer of security on your accounts
2. Don't call phone numbers, open attachments, click on links in emails.
3. Check website url's and email senders - if an email isn't from an official business or Nochex address like support@nochex.com it could be a scam.
4. Be wary of any communication with a sense of urgency or threat messaging - any emails that ask you to update something or make a payment in a short time or threaten account suspension could be a scam
Additional Measures
Email filtering - the process of sorting incoming emails to identify spam and suspicious emails
Anti-malware solutions - designed to help protect computer systems and devices from malicious software.
If you notice any suspicious emails that have a Nochex logo or related to Nochex, can you forward the email on to us support@nochex.com and delete the email.
