Introducing 3D Secure v2

We have now implemented the new version of 3D Secure verification, the cardholder validation service was developed to reduce fraudulent activity by requiring the cardholder to enter a password during the eCommerce payment process. 3D Secure v2 a directive from EU/EEA Payment Services has an improved less disruptive cardholder authentication processes whilst also offering greater fraud protection for our Merchants.

Strong Customer Authentication ("SCA")
As part of 3D Secure v2, Strong Customer Authentication ("SCA") has been applied to online payments that take place within the European Economic Area ("EEA"). SCA goes further than the existing validation requirements of 3D Secure v1 by requiring a two-factor authentication process for verification of payments. Cardholders will be required to use a combination of two of the following three options:

1. Something you know – e.g. a password
2. Something you have – e.g. a one-time SMS code sent
3. Something you are – e.g. using biometric technology such as fingerprint recognition

The good news is that you do not need to do anything as Nochex has completed all the development and implementation work.
